Job Description:
As an Arboricultural Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining trees and woodlands in public spaces. Your expertise in tree preservation, safety inspections, and woodland management will be essential in ensuring the health and sustainability of green spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of trees on public and private land to assess health, safety, and potential hazards.
- Provide expert advice on tree preservation orders, planning applications, and development proposals.
- Work closely with the local authority, contractors, and landowners to manage and preserve trees and woodlands.
- Identify diseased, damaged, or hazardous trees and recommend appropriate action, such as pruning or removal.
- Develop and implement strategies for tree planting and long-term maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to trees and woodlands.
- Manage emergency situations involving hazardous or fallen trees, ensuring public safety.
- Keep detailed records and reports of tree inspections, maintenance, and preservation activities.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree or relevant qualification in arboriculture, forestry, or a related field.
- Experience in tree management, preservation, and safety inspections.
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, species identification, and diseases.
- Familiarity with tree preservation orders and planning processes.
- Ability to use specialized arboricultural software and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and the public.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tree management and preservation.
